Winter Sunsets at Surfers Paradise

Recently we spent a weekend on the Gold Coast for my husbands 20 year high school reunion. We scored an apartment in an amazing location which meant it was a few minutes walk to the local park and more importantly to the beach.

The wind was arctic which meant we cautiously paddled in the ocean, and attempted building some sand castles. Most of all though it was a great chance to let our little boy explore the beach experience whilst we wandered along the water line.

The thing that strikes me most about Surfers Paradise is the shadows cast by all the tall building. They impose on the beach at sunset and turn it dark and cold at a time when it should be glowing in the evening sun. Having said that, the light at this time of year was stunning and has already inspired a series of paintings, some of which I’m sharing with you here.

There will definitely be more paintings to come.

If you would like to purchase any of these paintings or commission one of your own don’t hesitate to contact me or visit My Etsy shop.

Until next time,

Leah
