The Joys of Life Drawing

It’s been a long time since I’ve done life drawing. In fact if I had to guess I’d say it was high school when I last had a formal class. That is until about a month ago when my Mum suggested going along to a class she was attending.

The joy of picking up some charcoal and doing one minute sketches and having the lines work is immense.

The classes are testing my observation skills and pushing me to refine my lines and shapes. I’m finally tackling hands and feet, and even faces on occasion. All areas that I’ve steered away from in the past.

There are so many benefits from doing life drawing both as an artist and for my brain health, but most of all it’s actually great fun.

If you love the lines of this work you’ll find more of the same vein in my Etsy shop and you can follow along to see weekly updates from my drawing classes on Facebook or Instagram.

Until next time,

Australian Artist, painting with Gouache and Oil Pastel on Paper. Lover of lines, curves, colour and texture.

Born and bred in Melbourne, Australia, I've spent most of my adult life travelling, time living in Sweden and Adelaide and have settled in Brisbane with my little family.

I'm creative by nature and find inspiration in many different corners of this world, some just under my nose, others a life time away. I blog because I love to share what I discover, and to inspire myself.

You'll find my blogging about my paintings and artwork on:
and about my cooking adventures on
