Turquoise Dreams

As you dive in for that very first swim, the water is cool enough to be refreshing, but not cold enough to send you into shock. The sight of the gorgeous blue water reflecting the white sands below instantly tells your brain that this is special place to be.

This is release of the first of this group of paintings focus’ on tropical waters, the colours and tones of the water.  It also explores the sensation of swimming in these waters.

In a first, I’ve been exploring a new technique, using my gouache in a series of layers of colour and then working into the painting with coloured pencil.  The result is an image that is delicate and detailed.  I also explored the use of salt in one work which created interesting patterns in the drying paint and also left a layer of flakes which adds a dimension to the work.

Born and bred in Melbourne, Australia, I've spent most of my adult life travelling, time living in Sweden and Adelaide and have settled in Brisbane with my little family.

I'm creative by nature and find inspiration in many different corners of this world, some just under my nose, others a life time away. I blog because I love to share what I discover, and to inspire myself.
